Poetry
"Nothing" was published in the 2025 edition of Western Carolina University's undergraduate creative writing publication The Nomad. The poem speaks to the horrors of genocide.
Broken glass and charred buildings
The way the metal tastes like shit
The way the light glistens off their blades
The smell of blood covering your face
Broken families, destroyed churches
The way they pierce your very way of life
The night sky sparkling
With fireworks of napalm
Children running from the bullets
Flags waving in the distance
Sirens wailing from afar
Hatred penetrating the curtain of skin
Fiction
"Between Us" is a fictional account of a very real experience. It recounts a young man visiting the frequent fishing spot of he and his older brother before his brother passed away.
“Good fishin today,” he said quietly. “See you next summer, Wayne.”
He slid behind the wheel and started the engine. The headlights cut across the lank, catching a shimmer of light. It was something small and purple floating. It looked, for a moment, like one of Wayne's lures. Then it was gone.
